A New Way of Eating

I logged my entire 13 day eating program and it begins on the next page.

Before going into the eating program I thought I would take some time to explain about the foods and my history of eating raw foods.

Many years ago I read a book on raw food diets written by a Dr. Airola. I had thought that what I read in his literature made sense and began to slowly switch my snacking habits to berries and nuts. Eventually I was following the Airola diet fairly well and lost a substantial amount of weight.

However, because my husband and kids, at the time, all wanted to eat other foods it was hard to make the Airola a lifestyle. I slowly fell away from it and also slowly regained weight though at that time it didn't occur to me, until many years later, that the reason I had gained weight and began to have some health issues had been directly related to what I was putting in my mouth.

I've heard for years, "you are what you eat", but like most of you I just didn't know how to really make a dedicated consistent change in my eating habits. I had completely forgotten about the Airola diet, so I spent years trying the latest fad. I have many books on my bookshelves, such as: Suzanne Somers' Somersize, Denise Austin's Fit and Fabulous Over 40, Cracking the Metabolic Code, and the Biggest Loser. I have tried everything except low carb diet programs because while working for Jenny Craig for a few months in between technical contracts, I'd learned that low carb diets were NOT the way to go. Our bodies needs the RIGHT fats, carbs and proteins to work at its optimum and any diet that limits certain food groups never worked for me for very long anyway.

When I was approached by the Wholefood Farmacy people I knew they were onto something a) because the food tasted great, b) it was back to basics - back to the Airola type of eating I'd used before to get results, c) it was easy to eat, store, prepare, etc. no cooking or refrigeration required! I thought to myself, well if we don't eat this food right away, no problem, we'll just put it in the pantry for hurricane supplies! I bought an order of the Pro Farmacy Power, a wonderful green smoothie supplement and the $199 New You Pantry as my first order.

I must say from the ordering process, to the quick receipt of the products, to the taste and variety of all of the foods, I have been wonderfully happy with these foods.

As well, I make the Wholefood Farmacy Power green drink every morning, adding whole fruit to give it a smoothie consistency in the best blender and food processor machine on the planet, my Vita-Mix!

What do you think about living consciously?

Have you ever thought about what it means to live consciously? I mean, we all know we can drive from home to work many days, and realize once at work that we were sort of driving there by automatic means, sort of zoned out. I think everyone who drives the same route everyday experiences that awareness at least occasionally.

Living consciously to me, means I am more aware (and able to control) my thoughts, my emotions and my actions / behavior / attitude. And as many of us know, our attitude, the way we react to "things" everyday, has some (maybe little or maybe a lot) of affect on our bodies, i.e. high blood pressure, anxiety, etc.
